Amy came to visit ASU the other day, I think she wanted this link...

http://www.8bitpeoples.com/discography

I suggest listening to rushjet1 ... they are pretty sweet

For your amusement: one of several reasons I don't really post much anymore
* * *
Well, my computer screen is fixed and my hands are plastered with paint and charcoal and I have to go back to do some figure studies.... but SCHOOL IS AWESOME. Among other things, I submit this for your pleasure: http://www.8bitpeoples.com/files/8bp076-04-rushjet1-asteroid_run.mp3
It is from an entire site that I have found, filled with awesome stuff like the above. Its overwhelming, really.

It seems that more significant events have happened in the last few weeks than in the whole of my previous life combined. I am confused and bewildered... So I post from WCPE: can anyone explain, give advice, or tell me about any of the following?
-Me and Mike
-Amy and David
-Shannon and Kyle
-Tiffany and Jeremy
jeeze I don't even remember what the hell else... but there is plenty of meat there. If you don't know about what is going on with any of these happenings, let other people talk for you. If this involves you, please feel free to just stay silent... I won't be offended.

As far as LJ, Facebook, DeviantArt, etc. are concerned, I am dead untill further notice.

I have been informed that my previous new post was unsatisfactory....

Ok, rewind about a week, and I will tell you the story of this past weekend. Mrs. Alison Lake and Mike had decided to get me an early 21st birthday present, and I was super excited: it was a ticket to a performance of Beethoven's 9th. All I had to do was take a bus back on Saturday morning...
-
Which I missed. Probably due to some unseemly activities the night before, I woke up sprawled on my bed, head pounding, to Simon saying "Weren't you supposed to be up at 8?" Expletives boiling in my mind, I was pretty sure I was going to miss out on Beethoven. Mike and Alison were going to pick me up at the bus stop, so I gave them a call...
It was really bad form for me to miss the bus, but as it turns out, Mike and Alison were willing to drive all the way to Boone to pick me up.
-
You probably have no idea how much this means to me. As I write this, I am finished with exams, and have been since Tuesday, yet I have to wait until Sunday for my parents to find time to move me out. You should also realize that it is against housing policy for me to stay longer than 24 hours after my last exam... I don't expect them to relish the idea of a trip to Boone, but a passing attempt at being there for me when I need them is something they lack. In the long run, it just really makes me savor it when random dudes decide to come with about 15 minutes notice.
-
After getting to Raleigh, I checked in with my family, since they were expecting me home... I couldn't get a hold on any of them, and no one was at the house. Since I had some time before the concert, I had a meatball dinner at the Collins'. If I were one of those emo kids, I would say that food tastes even sweeter when seasoned with parental abandonment... since I'm just Greg, I'll say it was delicious and leave it at that.
-
I am not writing about the concert. I'm not a good enough writer to describe my amazement.
-
After the concert, Mike returned me home. It was a bit late, but Mom was still awake. We talked about music and stuff... She's a really warm person, and I love her a lot. That said, the sentiment was a little dimmed when I found that she had just given my bed to my Grandpa for a while. That meant I was sleeping on plastic sheets that really stank of eau-de-octogenarian. Blech.
-
After church on Sunday I purchased a ticket for the new Iron Man movie. It is awesome, you should see it, and I wont spoil anything for you on this post. Suffice to say, I am pretty much Tony Stark's poorer and nicer twin.
-
Sunday happened to be my brother Rob's birthday. We had cake and ice cream, but left it at that. I wonder if he had another one a different time...
-
My Dad got pissed at me... he asked me if I wanted to help my brother Micheal to set up his H2O rocket, and I said I would rather not. I want to stay on my parents' good side this summer, so I immediately said I would do it afterwards. 20 minutes later he came out angry looking and demanded whether I was letting my brother Micheal do anything. Damned if you do, damned if you don't, right? It all was for nothing anyway, the rocket failed.
-
The next morning I had to get back to Greensboro, to catch the bus to ASU. True to form, neither parent would take the time to bring me. Uncle Russel stepped up to the plate this time, and we left early to get there. The ride was great, we talked about everything from Flight of the Conchords to Kelse, my main squeeze. Russel also got me some food, another thing that I always really appreciate (that totally goes for the Collins' too).
-
In Greensboro, I pirated a handful of different wireless signals and found that I like Tom Waits quite a bit, when he's not too sappy. I was also approached by two bums, one of them with nasty groady bruises all over. They asked for bus fare so they could get to a hospital, and left nicely when I gave them some. Why would anyone hate bums?
-
That pretty much wraps it up. I'm curious, does anyone think that I get too worked up over my parents? Should I be content with the roof and tuition help they give me?

Get it? Nightmare Before Christmas? Oh nevermind. Well, I'm back on LJ, courtesy of Mike. I guess I'll try to match his post count for a while.
-
I am DONE with school. I am supposed to write something about the summer I guess... uh... My job can call me 24/7, and when I'm not at WCPE I'll try to either be art-ing or hanging out.
-
Last year, about this time, I was euphoric about the summer... and that got me a fat load on my chest; this year I'll try to use reverse psychology on fate. Honestly, though, I am not looking forward to this, despite all you great people back home. I'll just let you guys cheer me up (hint, I'll be 21 soon)
-
PS: Before I get back home, I am going to try to photograph all the art stuff I did this semester and put it online... When I do, I'll link to my deviantart page.

Trying to figure out how to get down to Raleigh on or near the 29th... anyone got any ideas? If it helps at all, I can bus out to Greensboro or Winston-Salem or something.

Um... so I kinda just splooged my pants because of a webcomic. This guy completely blew my mind... I've never seen anyone put this kind of effort and skill into such a little thing... its inspiring, really. Oh, and definitely give the rest of the comic a good look, its not all as simple and cheesey as this pic.

Oh, and for the sake of not plagiarizing, I stole it from http://www.threepanelsoul.com/ and it was drawn by Matt Ian. Seriously, I wish this guy were... I dunno. My dad or something.

I feel compelled to write. Unfortunately for you, I do not feel compelled to write well. So, its Christmas break everybody! Whoooooooo...oooo... yay. It seems that the cool thing to do is to hate the break. All of the people around me have issues and some are dealing with them, but for the most part they are just letting stand the status quo. In fact, scratch that, nobody is doing anything. Nobody, that is, except for me!
-
I think that I might have just re-kickstarted "Greg and Mike." Yeah, thats right: you bought all 4 albums and listened to them religiously, but now there is more! Nevermind that my definition of more is half of one song that hasn't even been recorded yet. This thing could snowball into the next pop craze!
-
Hmmm... theres a lot to write, but I really can't bring myself to put any of it down here. I'm such a chickenshit... and I'm going to pay for it when I am really old, and read through my livejournal posts to try to remember what the hell I did with my first 21 years.
-
The truth is, I haven't learned a goddamn thing. On Sunday, I plan to take a train out to Charlotte to meet up with Kelse for an afternoon. It seems silly, but through the past 2-3 weeks I've really been aching to do it. Heres the catch... last time I tried a stunt like this, it turned out pretty badly (see http://lifeprolific.livejournal.com/17363.html). Even if you read the entirety of that huge post, you wouldn't get the enormity of how much I screwed up on that trip. I'll be the first to say that we are not bound to repeat past mistakes, but in my case, I'm just kindof a moron and I always end up causing whacked-out situations. I am nervous. as. hell.

[EDIT]
Oh yeah, I forgot to write up my Christmas Profits:
-Sewing Machine (Mikes family thinks I won't be able to use it, but I'LL SHOW THEM!!!!)
-Printer (its pretty fancy. Its also a scanner and copier)

Art class at 8 in the morning can be fun sometimes. Today we took a massive trash can of unwanted pottery and dumped it in the elevator as an installation piece. Got video of some pretty confused people coming out of that thing...

For those concerned, I will return to Raleigh tonight, late (11-ish). I will be leaving either Friday or Saturday.

My my my, these posts are getting rarer and rarer. That makes them more valuable, right? Well, don't answer that. Instead, take my sweet Starcraft quiz:

I didn't really write all of that misself though. You should thank Simon for all the witty parts.

Appalnet is in death throes, and my class schedule keeps getting messed up all to hell. The site consistently fails in what I assume is its main purpose: class registration. However, if the dust settles and my schedule ends up how I want it, then I have a drawing class tues/thurs; a design class, another studio art class, and byzantine art and architecture mon/wed. Thats right ladies and gentlemen... absolutely no Friday classes. This was not planned or anything, it just worked out that way. What is more, it seems that Simon has no Friday classes either... how weird is that?
-
Well, down to business. Classes started yesterday (Tuesday) so of course I only had one to go to. I show up all excited-like, and meet Evn in the hallway. I chatted with him for a bit about the Big Red House, and then entered the classroom. Turns out, Kristi is taking the class too. I knew that I would have to bump into her every once in a while just because we are both art majors, but I really didn't see this one coming. The class seems ok, if a bit on the easy side, but needless to say I wasn't really paying much attention. After class, I exchanged a few expected pleasantries with her, and strode out into a MASSIVE torrential downpour. It was perfect, and actually cheered me up quite a bit. Upon returning to East, I met some dudes playing in the rain (I think their names were Cat and Trip/Trent). We splashed our way down to the stream, which had overflowed. Some other people brought out a slip n' slide. There was much muddy fun had by all.
-
Mostly, I relate that anecdote to prove to myself that I've made some progress on the whole Kristi thing. If this were a month ago, I would still be in my room moping and thinking to myself how serious life is, reliving every detail of the last year, furiously analyzing everything. Yesterday, however, I was genuinely able to just keep rolling, not take myself seriously, and had a damn good time getting muddy in the rain.

Well, I suppose that everyone wants to hear how satisfied I am with my dorm room, right? Why dont you decide for yourself...

Fascinating! Some new features are that I can hook the TV up to my computer, and play anything I want off of the web or my hard drive. Sweet. Um, the only real drawback is that it is hellishly hot in here. Everyone has a fridge, computer, etc. in the room; and air conditioning is not allowed. We also have a boiler room right underneath us. It's 84 degrees in here right now, it only drops to 80 at night. However, once it gets cold up here all that won't be a problem.
-
I had dreams last night. They were... troubling. Hence the unkempt bed.
-
I do not envy Simon. Being an RA is pretty rough, people come to you ALL THE TIME for stupid questions and... more serious ones. Like a hand wound, or older dudes in the womens bathroom.
-
I applied to the radio station up here for a job.... I hope my experience at WCPE pays off.

oh yeah, for any starcraft 2 fangirls out there, theres a bunch of new goodies to watch... including a major demonstration of most of the terran race. Cool stuff! You should check it out and...uh.... post your thoughts here or something. I gotta say, I dig the new "deploy scvs" feature. And giving the barracks 2 queues... brutal.
